Former Detroit Tigers utility player Niko Goodrum has signed a minor league contract with the Baltimore Orioles. The Orioles have not yet assigned him to an affiliate, but he is most likely going to Triple-A Norfolk.

The Tigers chose not to tender him a contract following the 2021 season, therefore Goodrum became a free agent. He eventually signed a one-year, $2.1 million contract with the Astros and debuted on the Opening Day roster. But Goodrum got off to a bad start, hitting.116 (5-for-43) with 23 strikeouts and only two walks. He was optioned.

The Angels designated Goodrum for assignment earlier this month, and the Pirates claimed him. His tenure with that group was brief. He passed waivers when the Pirates DFA’d him on June 14, and opted for free agency a few days later.
