Portsmouth manager John Mousinho has reassured fans that defender Tom McIntyre will be ready to face Leeds United in just under two weeks. McIntyre had to leave Portsmouth’s pre-season friendly with Wycombe Wanderers due to muscle tightness, causing concern for supporters hoping he can make an impact in the Championship this season.

Despite only making one appearance since joining in January, McIntyre is expected to partner Conor Shaughnessy in the heart of Portsmouth’s defense. With limited options, his fitness is a welcome boost for the clash with Leeds on August 10.

Portsmouth has made six new signings this summer, including Reuben Swann and Jordan Archer, but more reinforcements are needed, especially in defense. Mousinho is hopeful of completing more deals in the coming weeks to strengthen the squad.

After a loss to Wycombe, Portsmouth will aim to bounce back in their remaining pre-season matches against MK Dons and Charlton Athletic before the Championship season kicks off.
