Honestly, it’s all about the timings—maybe Brendan is just having a few extra words with a few of them.”

Back in 2021, a controversial banner displayed at Celtic Park during a game against Ferencvaros resulted in a €15,000 fine. These incidents reflect an ongoing tension between fan displays and UEFA’s strict regulations, costing Celtic significant sums over the years.

In 2020, Celtic faced a €15,000 fine from UEFA after Neil Lennon’s unspecified actions led to a delayed kick-off against FC Copenhagen, showing that Lennon knows firsthand how strict UEFA can be. That same year, Celtic were also penalized due to excessive bookings in a Europa League clash with Lille. Given UEFA’s strict enforcement of rules, even a seemingly minor delay on Tuesday night could trigger a sanction, especially with Celtic’s history of fines for infractions both on and off the pitch.
