The Indiana Fever have activated the contract of veteran forward Damiris Dantas, the team announced on June 25. In order to keep the roster at the limit of 12 players, Indiana waived rookie guard Celeste Taylor. Taylor, the Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year at Ohio State last year and the 15th overall pick in the 2024 WNBA draft, was the team’s second pick after Caitlin Clark, who was selected first. The Fever also selected Leilani Correa from Florida at No. 27 overall.

The Fever signed Dantas to a multi-year contract in February 2024 (terms unknown). The 6-foot-3 forward promises to help Clark and company in the post and beyond the arc, as she has a 34.1% three-point shooting percentage in nine seasons in the WNBA.

Taylor, who is 5-foot-11, appeared in only five games with the Fever this season, averaging 0.6 points, 0.2 rebounds, and 0.2 assists in 3.2 minutes per game. “They usually say the easiest part is getting drafted; the most difficult part is staying. “I want to be a player who stays in the league, not just for one year or even a training camp,” Taylor stated after being picked in April by the Eleven Warriors. “I believe that my primary focus is on entering the business and learning everything that comes with it. It’ll be new for me, new for everyone around me, trying to cherish the moments and remain with it, stay with my faith and work hard.
