As the 2024/25 Championship season approaches, teams across the country are finalizing their preparations. Leeds United recently returned to the UK after securing two wins in Germany and are gearing up to face Valencia at Elland Road this weekend, followed by Portsmouth the next Saturday for the opening game of the campaign.

Despite the looming deadline of August 30 for the summer transfer window, Leeds and other Championship teams are actively working to strengthen their squads. While Daniel Farke’s side is considered favorites for promotion, other teams are also investing in new players in hopes of challenging them. The final weeks of business promise to be busy in the Championship, with various transfer stories circulating.

Sheffield United has reportedly reignited their interest in Bournemouth’s Chris Mepham, a target that Leeds pursued in the January transfer window. The Blades and Celtic are now in pursuit of the 26-year-old defender, who is seeking more playing time amid limited minutes under Andoni Iraola.

Additionally, West Bromwich Albion striker Brandon Thomas-Asante is set to join Hull City in a £3 million deal, following an improved offer accepted by West Brom. Hull, who are looking to replace key attacking players, have identified Thomas-Asante as a suitable addition to their squad.

Meanwhile, Las Palmas has accepted a £1.3 million bid for striker Sory Kaba from an unnamed Championship club. Kaba, who struggled at Las Palmas last season, has previously proven himself in the Championship with a successful loan spell at Cardiff City. Despite interest from various clubs, it remains unclear which team has successfully secured Kaba’s services.
