Caoimhin Kelleher’s future at Liverpool seems increasingly secure amidst unfolding developments involving Celtic’s search for a Joe Hart replacement.

Following Hart’s retirement, Brendan Rodgers’ Celtic have been actively scouting for a new No. 1, with numerous goalkeeping talents linked to a potential move to Scotland this summer.

Among them is Kelleher, who came close to departing Anfield last year and has recently expressed ambitions to assert himself as a primary goalkeeper after years as Alisson Becker’s understudy.

Interest in the 25-year-old has been notable, but Nottingham Forest’s acquisition of Carlos Miguel from Corinthians has taken them out of the running.

Furthermore, Celtic’s apparent agreement with Kasper Schmeichel for a one-year deal means Kelleher’s potential move to Glasgow is off the table.

This development is likely to disappoint former Celtic striker Alan McInally, who expressed his belief that Kelleher would be an outstanding addition to Rodgers’ squad. Speaking to Gambling.com, McInally remarked:

“I think that would be unbelievable (if they signed Kelleher). Would he leave Liverpool? I’m not sure. As far as I’m aware he’s absolutely loved at Liverpool.”

McInally highlighted Kelleher’s standing within the Liverpool setup, noting Jurgen Klopp’s high regard for the goalkeeper’s performances in cup competitions and as a dependable backup.

“That would be a great signing for Celtic,” McInally added. “Whether or not you could prise him away from the arms of Liverpool I’m not really sure.”

As it stands, it appears that Liverpool’s new head coach Arne Slot will see his wish fulfilled with Kelleher remaining part of his squad for the upcoming 2024/25 campaign.
