Fourth stage of the championships Alexander Zverev and Francisco Giron reached an agreement for 300 million.
Tennis: Alexander Zverev looked fantastic in the first round. His serve is always solid, but he played aggressively and came to the net frequently. Roberto Carballes Baena was a perfect opponent for him, but Marcos Giron will be a more difficult challenge. Giron has a really decent grass game and has performed well in the build-up tournaments. Zverev’s serve will keep him going, and he will try to break Giron at least a few times.
Jordan: Giron is a very competent baseliner who has improved on the grass this season. But his game isn’t strong enough to hurt Zverev. The German’s strong serve is expected to help him rack up service games fast, putting pressure on Giron’s weaker delivery. Prediction: Zverev in three. Damian: This is already a difficult challenge for Zverev, especially given his grass game. That’s primarily because his quiet baseline style doesn’t work well here, and even someone like Giron may find some patches where he’ll be all over the German. Given the American’s form on this grass swing, this appears to be a serious test for the fourth seed.
Stefanos Tsitsipas has never done well at Wimbledon, and he will be eager to perform to his full potential. He has started well, but Ruusuvuori will be a tougher challenge. Emil Ruusuvuori won the opening round of Wimbledon for only the second time, and he now has a chance to advance further than he has ever before. Tsitsipas is the favourite in this match, but he is not guaranteed to win on grass, and Ruusuvuori has the game to test him. Prediction: Tsitsipas in four. Jordan: This is a dangerous encounter for Tsitsipas. He has been prone to upsets on grass, and Ruusuvuori has the game to make it happen. Ruusuvuori suffered an upset in five sets.
Damian: Tsitsipas rarely does well on grass, but he did play some excellent tennis at Wimbledon last year. The Greek should see his quarter as a great opportunity now, especially with Korda and Rublev already out.
Ateet: Both of these players had strong performances in the first round and will be confident of their ability to win this match. Tomas Martin Etcheverry won his first grass match of the year with a strong performance, but Alexei Popyrin has more weapons to challenge him. This is a close call, but Popyrin has significantly more experience on this surface.
Jordan: Etcheverry’s overall game is superior than Popyrin’s, but he may not get to show it if Popyrin serves at his peak. This could be one of the tournament’s tightest contests thus far. Popyrin’s massive serve gives him a slim chance of making it further. Prediction: Popyrin in five Damian: Etcheverry isn’t your usual clay specialist on grass, standing nearly two meters tall, and while you might wonder if he’s getting everything he can out of that serve, he shouldn’t be underestimated. Popyrin is probably the favorite, but I like Etcheverry’s chances of making this one competitive and forcing the Australian to fight hard for the win.
