During the international break, Oliver Glasner has led his Crystal Palace team to Marbella; for Nathan Ferguson, this may be his final opportunity.

The Eagles will play a friendly match against Norwegian team Bodø/Glimt in Spain during their mid-season tour, and the 23-year-old has been included in the Austrian squad.

Why, therefore, is Nathan Ferguson’s time at Crystal Palace so significant? Let’s examine this.

Nathan Ferguson competing for his future at Crystal Palace
The defender is running out of time to establish himself because his contract is set to expire this summer.

Ferguson’s contract with Crystal Palace was already extended for an additional year when it ended in June 2023, in order to allow him more time to recover from his terrible physical issues.

The Birmingham native then appeared to be getting closer to making a stronger return against Monaco in a Premier League International Cup match back in October, but he was sidelined by a significant hamstring injury.

Ferguson, who has just recently recovered from that injury, played for the U21 team in a recent Premier League 2 match at the bet365 Stadium against Stoke, recording an assist in the team’s 3-1 triumph.

But now is the moment for Crystal Palace No. 36 to prove to Glasner that he deserves a new deal.
