Konecny’s power-play goal gave the Flyers their first advantage. The puck went to Konecny at the side of the net after Foerster missed a one-timer in the high slot with the heel of his stick. The striker for the Flyers scored his second goal in as many games and his 29th goal overall when he hammered it in past a sprawled-out Ullmark at the left post.
Without the efforts of Sean Couturier and the Flyers fourth line, the goal would not have been possible. The captain was back, indeed. He was out there centering Noah Cates and Olle Lycksell after sitting out the first two games as a healthy scratch. Following a TV timeout, the three players continued to exert pressure, and as a result, Cates was called for a high-sticking foul against Andrew Peeke after the Bruins defenseman stopped his effort at goal at the right post.
Justin Brazeau darted across the crease and buried the puck around Sam Ersson’s pad on the backhand to tie the game, despite the Flyers pushing in the third. Then, Konecny scored his second goal of the match thanks to a drop pass from Morgan Frost and Charlie McAvoy, a Bruins defenseman. However, the Flyers defense collapsed 56 seconds later. They lost all sight of everyone except the person holding the puck in their rush. Danton Heinen drove to the net backdoor when that person, Morgan Geekie, whacked him, tying the score 2-2.
